Human pumpkins
progress
The entire october is Halloween for me! So with the 1st october marked in my calender I started working on some halloweeny manipulations. This shows roughly the steps this work had, from start to finish.
  • info
  • • Photoshop CS4
    • 6 stock images
    • Worktime: 14 h

  • preparation
  • Load both images into Photoshop and drag the texture image into your washed out image file, so it becomes a layer on top of your image that needs work. You can also do this inside a photomanipulations that consists of several layers already. Simply have the washed out image and the texture on seperate layers in your file, texture layer on top.
adding texture back into washed out images
    tutorial
You had to really blow up an image so its size fits your needs? It completely lost its texture and looks blurred out now? This easy technique helps you add texture back into your original image. Works perfect for skin and fur and can be used to create some truly weird effects. Why not adding fur texture to skin? Or make animals have human skin pores? Go wild!
  • what you'll need
  • • Photoshop CS4 or higher
    • A washy image that needs texture
    • A texture image

  • preparation
  • Load both images into Photoshop and drag the texture image into your washed out image file, so it becomes a layer on top of your image that needs work. You can also do this inside a photomanipulations that consists of several layers already. Simply have the washed out image and the texture on seperate layers in your file, texture layer on top.

  • step 1
  • Desaturate the texture (Shift+Ctrl+U) and set the layer to »Linear Light« in the blendings modes on the layer panel. Lower the opacity so the texture isn't too extreme anymore, in my case it was 50%.

  • step 2
  • In this step you can adjust the texture to fit the underlaying image. Direction of the fur (if you're working with animal skin like in this example) or size of the texture (if you're working with skin, reducing the pore size). Just twist it around, downsize it, until it looks right.

  • done!
  • Wasn't that hard, eh?
Left: washed out animal skin. Right: Texture to be added
Left: Texture added into the animal skin. Right: Opacity lowered
    hilbert, the friendly human eyeball
    freebie
As a lover of horror and the macabre I'm always on the lookout for creepy stock images, but I never found one thing: a great stock photo of a human eyeball. They were either too cartoonish o a vector, so I went ahead and made my own.
  • Grab the freebie
  • DOWNLOAD Layered PSD with three different eye colors
    Size: 57.4 MB | 4000 x 3180 PX

  • info
  • The PSD comes with three groups, one for every eye color.

  • inside you'll find
  • The eyeball

    The highlight
which you can move around to fit your needs or simply delete to paste your own custom hightlight on top

    The shadow
which is also movable so the eyeball blends in seaminglessly in the light setup of your manipulation.
